CRAZYY!!--Lesbian Mayor Of Houston Asks Pastors To Submit Sunday Sermon For Investigation

Houston has launched out a biblical regulatory dogma for churches in her city as five pastors recently had their sermons subpoenaed for an investigation by the city. Even though many religious bodies seem to frown at the development, the city council deemed it a responsibility to guide the churches about what religious believe and dogma is passed to the people. The genesis of the issue began earlier this year when Houston’s City Council passed the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO), which was set out to grant equal rights protections to gay and provide protection against many forms of discrimination, including on the basis of sex or race, received criticism and suspicion that caught the interest of the media, considering the fact that the document was signed by Houston’s first openly gay mayor, Annise Parker. Religious bodies who frowned at the ordinance wanted to initiate a ballot measure for the ordinance’s repeal in November. For the repeal to be successful, HERO’s opponents will have to collect over 17,000 signatures. According to the Chronicle (paywall), they congress collected “well more than the minimum number of signatures.” In fact, they collected over 50,000. After the signatures were taken, the Houston City Attorney , who was appointed by the Gay Mayor discarded many of the 50,000 signatures as invalid,” according to Josh Blackman, Assistant Professor of Law at the South Texas College of Law specializing in constitutional law. In reaction to the condemnation of the vote, the groups who collected the signatures sued the city. As Media Matters for America puts it, “the lawsuit claims that the City Attorney ‘wrongly determined that they had not gathered enough valid signatures’ to qualify for a vote to repeal HERO.” Reacting to the lawsuit against them, the city issued subpoenas against five pastors in the Houston area, asking them to turn over “all speeches, presentations, or sermons related to HERO, the Petition, Mayor Annise Parker, homosexuality, or gender identity prepared by, delivered by, revised by, or approved by you or in your possession.” They ordered. Officials also want to find out if and how pastors might have instructed opponents as New York Magazine’s Kate Zavadski suggested. “What exactly the pastors said, and what the collectors knew about the rules, is one of the key issues in pending litigation around whether opponents of the law gathered enough signatures for a referendum.”

DEATH OF PASSENGER ON JFK FLIGHT NOT FROM EBOLA!!!

Another quarantined Air France passenger proves negative A passenger reportedly died on a Nigeria-to-JFK flight after vomiting Thursday but an examination of the remains proved that the death was not Ebola-related. This is as another passenger who was on Air France Lagos-Paris-Madrid flight who developed fever midflight and was quarantined on suspicion of having the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease was later certified free of the infection. However, Representative Peter King said in a letter to Homeland Security and Customs and Border Protection that the handling of the remains exposed serious flaws in airport preparedness for an Ebola outbreak. Between 70 and 100 passengers a day arrive at JFK from the Ebola endemic countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, King noted, pointing out that they had access to public restrooms and mingle with other travellers before their first screening. “Given the high volume of travellers at JFK, it is essential that extraordinary measures are taken to intercept possible Ebola-infected passengers. These individuals transit the airport with the rest of the travelling population, including using the restrooms. “It is only after they arrive at the Customs and Border Protection primary screening location that they are separated and sent to secondary inspection for a medical check and to complete the questionnaire”, he wrote to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and Customs Commissioner Gil Kerlikowske. His letter demanded Homeland Security immediately beef up protocols for potentially infected passengers both in flight and at the terminal itself, prior to their reaching the screening location. The letter also demanded better training and safety equipment for the Port Authority police and Customs and Border Protection officials who could come into contact with high-risk passengers. The unnamed passenger, age 63, had boarded an Arik Air plane Wednesday night out of Lagos, Nigeria.

I STOLE MILLIONS OF NAIRA WITH PEOPLES ATM'S

CALABAR—A 23-year-old graduate of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, Ondavey Weize, has revealed how he swapped the Automatic Teller Machine, ATM, cards of several persons with invalid cards and withdrawing large sums of money from their accounts before he was arrested by Police in Calabar. Weize, who has over 60 ATM cards in his possession, said he came to Calabar, Cross River State capital, two weeks ago from Abuja and had succeeded in swapping the ATM cards of many people and had withdrawn money from their accounts to spend lavishly in hotels and night clubs. He said of the cards in his possession: “Some of those cards are not valid but many of them are. What I do is to monitor people making withdrawals from ATMs.
“I go close to them and pretend to help. I memorise their pin numbers and while the person is counting his money, I swap his ATM card with an invalid one and later use it to make withdrawals from his account.” Weize was paraded by Cross Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Titilayo Busari. He said he had used the method to withdraw several millions of naira from people’s accounts and did not think of returning to the school he graduated from since 2013 to collect his certificate. “I am not keen in collecting my certificate from my school or going for national service because I make enough cash from my business to take care of my needs,” the suspect said. Weize, who is from Vandeikyia in Benue State, said he was introduced to the business by a friend from Ondo State, who he met in Abuja and that they had been working together until they parted ways. He said: “We were doing the business together and after some time, we parted ways and have not seen each other for the past three months.” The suspect, who was arrested in Calabar last weekend while trying to swap his card with that of another person in the premises of a new generation bank in Calabar Road, had in his possession N258,000 cash. Mr. Titilayo Busari, Cross River State Police Commissioner, who paraded the young man, called on the public to be careful who they ask for assistance while making withdrawals from ATM. “They should ask the bank staff to help them or come with trusted people from their homes to avoid falling into the wrong hands,” the police commissioner counselled. He said his command was ready to ensure that criminal activities were reduced to the barest minimum during the Yuletide and called on the public to give the Police information about suspicious characters in their neighbourhood.

MUTINY-Soldiers placed on half salaries

Indications have emerged that the 97 soldiers including four (4) Lieutenant Colonels, a Major and four (4) Army Captains who are currently facing trial at a General Court Martial at the AHQ Garrison headquarters at the Mogadishu Cantonment, have been placed on half salaries. It was gathered that the decision of the Army High Command to put the soldiers on half salary which is in tandem with the terms and conditions (TACOS) of military statutes, will be in place until the trial of the soldiers whose tenure is unknown, ends. Asked to comment on the development, a senior officer said it was not a punitive action noting that whenever the trial ends and decisions taken, those who are freed will revert to collecting their full salaries. Already, 59 of the soldiers were arraigned on Wednesday specifically for Mutiny and Conspiracy to Mutiny having allegedly refused orders by the Commanding officer of the 111 Special Forces Battalion, to advance in an operation to recapture Delwa in Borno State from Boko Haram terrorists. Recall that the soldiers who are divided into two groups, are facing several charges related to Mutiny, Conspiracy to Mutiny, Assault; Absence without leave (AWOL); House breaking, Conduct prejudicial to good orders, and Service discipline as well as offences relating to Service property among others.

SPORTS::Julio Baptista urges Real Madrid to sign Cruzeiro midfielder Lucas Silva

Real have been linked with a move for 21-year-old midfielder Silva amid reports of Sami Khedira's possible departure from the Spanish capital, with Arsenal and Chelsea rumoured to be admirers of the latter. Silva has quickly become one of the hottest properties in Brazilian football, having emerged from Cruzeiro's youth team in 2012. The Brazil youth-team international has been a regular for Cruzeiro in 2014, making 19 appearances as the defending Serie A champions sit top of the table. And veteran Baptista, who spent three years at the Bernabeu, believes Silva has the quality to succeed in La Liga. "It would be a wise move," Baptista told Marca of Real potentially signing Silva. "The first day I saw him I knew he was a player that would turn heads and I told him so. "He's a two touch player, a quality that would fit right in Spain or the Premier League. In Brazil, players hog the ball, but Lucas plays it quickly. "He is ready to make the giant leap to Europe and into a big club like Madrid, but he needs time to settle, because it's not an easy club. "But in terms of footballing ability, there's no doubt he'd fit in very nicely at Real Madrid. He's a player brimming with talent."

BOKO HARAM FIGHTERS CUT MY NEIGHBOUR'S THROAT

Cameroon said Friday its army killed 107 Boko Haram fighters, while a police officer told AFP at least 30 civilians were murdered by the Islamist guerrilla group before the ambush. The combat occurred Wednesday and Thursday after militants from the Nigeria-based Boko Haram drove into the border towns of Amchide and Limani, Cameroon’s defence ministry said in a statement read on state radio. Officials said eight Cameroonian soldiers died in the battle, which the ministry called “fighting of rare violence”. It was not possible to independently verify the information or the toll. Boko Haram rebels, who have been waging attacks in northern Nigeria and who kidnapped more than 200 school girls in April, frequently cross into neighbouring Cameroon. A police officer speaking to AFP on condition of anonymity said that before the military confronted them, the Boko Haram fighters “cut the throats of many civilians, 30 at least”. The manager of a money transfer agency was among the murdered, he said, and a Catholic church, a Protestant church and several bars were burnt. “They wanted to attack the camp” where elite soldiers were garrisoned “with a booby-trapped car, but the soldiers were one step ahead of them and destroyed it,” the police officer said. A security guard in Amchide at the time of the attack confirmed the officer’s information. “The Boko Haram fighters killed many people in town. They cut the throats of my neighbours. They killed the Express Union manager and two security guards in his shop. They burned the churches and a mosque,” he said. “The army told us to leave town, so we did,” he added. The defence ministry made no mention of civilian deaths in its statement. It said that the heavily armed Boko Haram members were travelling in armoured vehicles that crossed over from Nigeria. The fierce fighting started late Wednesday and after a pause resumed on Thursday, ending with Boko Haram fleeing back over the border, according to the ministry. A tank, a pick-up truck and a Peugeot car packed with ammunition and explosives were destroyed by the soldiers, it added. “Several light and heavy arms were seized,” the ministry said. “Calm has returned and our defence forces are in control of the border areas”. Cameroon shares a border of more than 2,000 kilometres (1,200 miles) with Nigeria, where Boko Haram has been waging a bloody insurgency since 2009 in which 10,000 people have died.

Ooooops!! Denmark bans. Animal-human sex

Denmark is making plans to outlaw s3x with animals. And one of the reasons the country’s agriculture minister gave was that animals are not able to give human’s permission to engage in s3xual activity with them. The minister, Dan Jørgensen, said: “I have decided that we should ban s3x with animals. That is happening for numerous reasons. The most important is that in the vast majority of cases it is an attack against the animals. And under all circumstances, any doubts about it should go to the animals’ benefit. They naturally cannot say no to going along with it. Therefore it should be banned .” Denmark has reportedly experienced a growth in animal s3x tourism. It is hoped that the ban will help curb stem this growth. A survey was conducted in the country to get people’s views on the matter. 67 percent of people agreed with the ban.

MONALISA CHINDA CRACKS DOWN ON RUMOURS

A few weeks ago, there were rumours that Nollywood actress, Monalisa Chinda, had started making moves to reunite with her former husband, Dejo Richards. Monalisa’s marriage to Dejo Richards had packed up few years ago due to some irreconcilable differences. While she alleged that Dejo physically abused her in the marriage, those in her ex-huband’s camp alleged that she caused the seperation. So, the reconciliation story was that, following pressures from her friends, relations and close associates, she had decided to end her relationship with a wealthy socialite and reconcile with her ex. But in a new interview with Punch, Monalisa has denied ever making such moves. Annoyed by the intensity of the false rumours about her that are currently making the rounds, Monalisa said “I heard the rumour and couldn’t help but laugh, as usual. Around here, we just write anything whenever truly confirmed stories are not readily available. Whatever I do with my private life is my business. But people are free to speculate as it is part of the business.”

COURT BANS USE OF HIJAB IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS -NO GOING BACK

Ikeja High Court today FridayOctober 17th upheld the ban on thewearing of Hijab (Muslim head scarf) in public primary and secondary schools in Lagos state.Justice Modupe Onyeabor dismissed the suit instituted against the Lagos State Government by two 12-year-old girls under the aegis of the Muslim Students of Nigeria, Lagos State Area Unit. The government had banned the use of Hijab on the argument that it was not part of the approved school uniform for pupils.Following the ban, the students filed the suit on May 27, 2013, seeking redress and asked the court to declare the ban as a violation of their rights to freedom of thought, religion and education. In her judgment, Onyeabor held that the prohibition of the wearing of Hijab over school uniforms within and outside the premises of public schools was not discriminatory.According to her, the ban does not violate sections 38 and 42 of the 1999 Constitution as claimed by the plaintiffs. The judge said Section 10 of theConstitution made Nigeria a secular state and that government must maintain neutrality at all times. Onyeabor said the government therefore had a duty to preserve the secular nature of the institutions concerned as argued bythe Lagos State Solicitor-General, Mr Lawal Pedro (SAN).She noted that since the public schools were being funded by the government, it was therefore competent to issue dress codes and other guidelines to the students.According to her, the use of uniforms engenders uniformity and encourages students to pursue their mutual academic aspirations without recourse to religious orany other affiliations. The judge, however, observed that the uniformity sought by the government in the issuance of the dress code would be destroyed, should the prayers of the plaintiffs be granted.“The non-Hijab wearing students will feel inferior to those who are putting on Hijab. “The values of plurality and the respect for the rights of others who have subscribed to a non-faith based educational system cannot be breached.“In that effect, the issue is resolved in favour of the respondents and the suit is accordingly dismissed,’’ Onyeabor said. Reacting to the judgment, the plaintiffs’ counsel, Chief Gani Adetola-Kazeem, told NAN that his clients would file anappeal against the judgment.“Well the court has spoken but there are still very many issues to be considered which invariably means that we will appeal the judgment.“We are simply not satisfied with the court decision. “The angle through which the court has looked at the issue is quite at variancewith the provisions of the constitution. We will definitely appeal,” he said.

10 Insane Ways To Turn A Girl On Sexually [EXPLICIT CONTENT]

Do you find it hard turning a girl on sexually? Want to know some proven ways to turn a girl on without getting her blind drunk? I’m talking to the point where she’ll be dry humping your leg, begging you to take her back to your place. Yep these techniques are THAT good :) Unfortunately a lot of guys find it incredibly difficult to turn a woman on and that’s why they don’t get laid. So I’m going to put a stop to that today, by showing you the best ways to turn a girl on sexually with both verbal and non-verbal techniques. Oh and these have all been proven to work… Adam Lyons approved in fact, so you know they’ve been tested in-field a ridiculous amount of times! They will blow her mind.
Without further ado… let’s get grooving: VERBALLY (NON-PHYSICAL SEXUAL ESCALATION) The first key to sexual escalation is verbal, you need to seduce her with your words… then you move onto the physical which will push things over the edge with her. 1. TALK ABOUT SEX… DOH! How can you expect a woman to think about having sex with you, if you don’t plant those thoughts in her mind? Well the simple answer is, she won’t. Whilst you’re building rapport with her, you need to throw in a few thought provokers that help her think about you in the sack. Things like: Hey look at the way that girl is dancing over there, you can totally tell she’d be terrible in bed by the way she’s moving. I was reading something in the paper on the tube the other day which said that women who wear bright red lipstick or better at giving blowjobs than women who don’t (WARNING ON THIS ONE, IT’S ADVANCED) I was talking to a girl-friend the other day and she said that women relate dancing with a guy to sex… is that true? 2. ISOLATE THE GIRL If you want to seriously ramp up the sexual tension you need to isolate the girl, it’s the only way she won’t be distracted by her friends and you can work your magic. Lead the situation by taking her somewhere quiet and continue to build rapport further. If you don’t know how to take her away from her friends, say something like: Hey listen, I need to get a drink… come with me. Man I’m starving, let’s go and get some food then we can come back before it closes Come with me I need to show you something… 3. SLOW DOWN AND TALK SEXY If you want to be more seductive you have to be smooth with your words. By slowing down with the way you speak, pausing in between words and looking into her eyes while you do this, she will be eating out of your hands. Think James Bond and you’ll be fine. NON-VERBALLY (PHYSICAL SEXUAL ESCALATION) So now we’ve covered the verbal side of sexual escalation, we’re now going to go over the physical side of things… this is where it really heats up. 4. PULL HER INTO YOU Women like a guy who is strong… so look into her eyes, put your hands around her waist and slowly pull her into you, so your pelvis is touching hers. This is very sexual and will setup a kiss perfectly. I’d go as far to say that it’s the best way to turn a girl on, because it shows you’re a dominant male. 4. USE THE “TRIANGLE GAZE METHOD” This is a proven technique that helps build sexual rapport and accelerates the chance of a kiss very quickly. When you are looking at her, start from the left eye (hold for 3 seconds) then move to the right eye (hold for another 3 seconds) then look at her lips for a couple of seconds. Repeat this for a minute or two… you are basically planting the idea in her mind that you want to kiss her. If she asks you why you keep looking at her lips, tell her the truth! 5. CHEEK KISS TEST Some guys just don’t know when they should be going in for a kiss, here’s a great way to tell if she’s ready. Go in for a cheek kiss (with your hands holding each arm), but make sure it’s very close to her mouth, when you’re close see what her reaction is… does she move her head away as if to reject you or does she go in for a real kiss? If she moves away, go in for a second kiss but keep your hands holding her arms. Why you ask? Simple, if you remove your hands from her arms when she moves her head away from the kiss, it sub communicates that you have acknowledged she is rejecting your kiss. However if you leave your hands there and go in for a third kiss, making it obvious that you’re going for the cheek, it makes her look like the fool… clever huh? 6. GROOM HER We’re all highly sexual animals at the end of the day, so grooming her will communicate that you “care” about the way she looks and her well being. Simply brushing her hair away from her face and placing it behind her ear is enough to escalate. 7. KISS HER FOREHEAD Girls love it when guys kiss their forehead, it shows affection and no matter how hard a girl tries, she won’t be able to resist liking you that little bit more. It’s what they see in the movies, so it’s subconsciously embedded in their mind and just always works, so use it. 8. TOUCH HER WAIST/STOMACH If a girl let’s you touch her waist and leave your hand there without pulling away… then you can kiss her. It’s a surefire sign my friend, go in for the kiss. On the flip side, if she ever touches your stomach or chest, it means she wants to kiss you, guaranteed. 9. PLACE YOUR HAND ON HER FACE (OPTIONAL) This is quite a manly dominant thing to do, if you place both hands or one hand on her face, then go in for the kiss… there’s not much she will do to resist. Seen as though women like to be lead sexually (well most do anyway) she will never pull away, she’ll just go with it. 10. READ HER SIGNS AND ACT If she’s looking at you (lingering) with intent, her pupils are dilated and she’s leaving her hand on your stomach or arm, it means she wants to kiss… so go for it. The more you do this, the easier it will become because you’re going to be able to read the signs and instinctively act. THESE ARE THE BEST WAYS TO TURN A GIRL ON If you can nail the verbal and non-verbal, you’ll be getting into her panties in no time. I can’t think of any other ways that would work better then the tips above, so use them wisely.

10 Adventurous Sex Moves We Bet You’ve Never Tried [EXPLICIT CONTENT]

From an unexpected guaranteed-to-get-her-off position to a new way to use that pull-up bar, we’ve got the expert-approved tricks that will convince her you’re a certified sex god. Sure, a night of boring sex might still be the most entertaining evening you’ve had all week, but that’s no reason to settle into a lame routine in bed—especially when there are so many opportunities for greatness. In order to take your sex life to the next level, we asked four sexologists to share the bedroom tricks you haven’t tried yet, but should. Like, right now. Trust us. 1.

The Not So La-Z-Boy

If you’ve always gotten it on horizontally, it’s time to think vertical. Sex coach Dr. Patti Britton, PhD says that standing sex is a huge rush that will make you feel like the most macho sex god around—and your partner will agree. It helps if you’ve been doing your squats, but if you need a little extra assistance for this move you thought only worked in movies, Britton says there are a few tricks to pulling it off without breaking a hip. Lean against a wall, or even better, put one foot up on a comfortable chair for balance. Have her wrap her legs around your waist—and watch her get literally swept off her feet by your prowess. 2.

X Marks The O Spot

Even if you’re pretty sure you’re a master of oral, here’s something you’re probably missing: “There’s a little spot right above the clitoris called the front commissure,” says Dr. Ian Kerner, PhD., a sex counselor and founder of Good in Bed. “If a woman is on top and grinding against the pelvis, it will hit that spot. You can also apply pressure with the top of your teeth where it meets your gum, while also applying rhythmic stimulation with your tongue or a sex toy.” Thing is, she might not even realize how sensitive she is there—so it’s a surprise move that will surely blow her mind. 3.

Showtime!

Long-distance duos might already be all over this one, but couples in the same area code don’t normally think about using video chat to engage in a session of virtual sex. However, Kerner recommends it—even if your’e already living under the same roof. “There’s an element of voyeurism and exhibitionism that a lot of women fantasize about,” he explains. You can watch her touch herself, or let her watch you. If you’re not sure how to get started, Kerner says that some women find it hot for you to watch them watch porn, or vice versa—which might make both of you feel less awkward about engaging in a little self-pleasure for your audience of one. 4.

The So-Right Angle

If you only go down when she’s lying down, take things for a new twist. Amy Levine, sex coach and founder of Ignite Your Pleasure, recommends this move: Next time you’re about to go in for the oral treatment, switch it up by asking her to get on all fours. Then, perform oral on her from behind, lying underneath her on your back with your legs facing away from her body. “It’s an unexpected sensation, as sucking on the clitoris and using your tongue from below feels different than when you’re face down,” says Levine. “And it’s a way to find new erogenous angles with your mouth.” 5.

Rough Stuff

You know your girl has read Fifty Shades of Grey and gotten a little flushed with excitement, so Kerner suggests you take it one step further and introduce some light BDSM into the bedroom. If you’re not sure getting a little rough is really her (or your) thing, baby steps are fine. According to Kerner, it can be as simple as renting porn with similar themes and watching it together, or if you’re into it, you can pick up some basic gear, like restraints, a riding crop, or nipple clamps. Come up with a few safe words, and try switching up the dominant role so you can play both sides of the game. 6.

The Bent Spoon

Levine suggests this bedroom move, which begins as a sweet and cozy opener that heats up in an unexpected way. “Start off your sex session in the spooning position, with you behind her as the big spoon and both of you on your sides,” she says. “Then, have her rotate to a 90-degree angle, so your bodies are perpendicular and she’s on her back with one leg in between yours and one over your upper thigh.” This will give you more space for movement, not to mention the freedom to touch her in all the right spots. (Bonus: You’ll be able to watch her face react as you do.) 7.

Blind Date

While new positions are great, Britton reveals that you can use an old standard in a fresh, exciting way. Before getting into your tried and true—but not overly complicated—Kama Sutra position, ask her to gently tie a silk scarf around your eyes as a blindfold. Restricting one sense will heighten all your others in an intense way, Britton assures. You’ll smell her scent, hear her moans more clearly, and feel every little movement with greater intensity. It’s so good, it’ll be worth not seeing the goods just this once. And when you’re ready for an eyeful again, make it her turn by covering her eyes and letting her experience all the intensified glory. 8.

The Un-Scent-sual

When your pheromones go wild, so will you. Go fragrance free for seven days, says forensic sexologist Eric Garrison, and see the crazy effect that your natural scent will have on your sex life. You don’t actually have to skip bathing—just dump the artificial scents so that your woman can smell your own distinctive, personal musk, which she won’t be able to get enough of. Pick up some fragrance-free soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, deodorant, and shaving cream (listen, it’s a small investment for mind-blowing sex). Wash all your clothes with the new, unscented stuff and start using the odorless grooming products, then sit back and watch how your woman goes wild for you during kissing, cuddling, and of course, sex. Says Garrison, “Trust me—this is a dealmaker.” 9.

Dirty Charades

Shutting your mouth might seem intuitive to sex, but as long as it’s only metaphorically and not literally, it can take it to another level, advises Britton. Agree that neither you nor she will make a peep during the act from start to finish. Without words to rely on, you’ll have to find new (and super hot) ways to show each other what you’re liking and what you want next. This, in turn, will increase the intimacy—and maybe even make you feel like you’re two teenagers sneaking around again. Either way, it will definitely change up your tired old routine. 10.

Swingers

You don’t have to install a crazy contraption in your house to bring some swing into your life. Garrison notes that if you’ve got a pull up bar installed in your door, along with a bed sheet and a willing partner, you’re totally equipped for this adventurous move. Here’s how he says to do it: “Take a queen or king flat sheet length-wise and fold it or bunch it into a long strap. Drape it over the bar, so that the U portion is in front and the ends hang over the back. Reach through the U with each hand and grab an end in each hand. Your partner can sit in it like a swing or open it up some, and lean into it for doggy style.” You’ll love the deep penetration, the Cirque du Soleil feel, and the opportunity to show off your toned arms. (Just make sure your bar is very secure for safety.)

Cohen said: “My sister actually got a pretty bad staph infection from itching a mosquito bite. She was in a lot of pain and could barely walk. It took her a couple weeks to heal with heavy antibiotics.” Cohen, a high school freshman paired up with mentor, Delony Langer-Anderson a 3M advanced new product development specialist for the project. young scientist challenge Cohen and his mentor throughout the competition, Delony Langer-Anderson. [Photo credit: 3M Young Scientist Challenge] Langer-Anderson heaped praises on the pre-teen scientist said: “David looked at the problem of mosquito-borne illnesses in a different way. He asked, ‘What if the mosquito was never born?’ As he’s worked through prototypes and ideas, he’s never lost sight of the idea that if he can stop the mosquito from emerging from the larvae stage, he can prevent them from spreading diseases.” She said although it is yet to be seen whether Cohen’s invention will reduce the number of malaria or West Nile virus cases, the involvement of such youngsters in solving world problems is a welcome development “I think that people like David have the potential to impact the futures of people living in our country and in developing regions of the world,” she added.

SPORTS::Wenger Blames Brazil 2014 World Cup For His Players’ Injury

Arsene Wenger has attributed the woes that seem threaten the chances of Arsenal maintaining the top four position this season, to the just-concluded World Cup on Brazil. Gunners’ head coach had said on Friday, October 17, 2014 that the reason why about 10 of his players suffered injuries since August is as a result of the world Cup games, citing one of the World Cup winner, Mesut Ozil who will be out of EPL for up to three months with a collateral ligament tear in his left knee. French striker, Olivier Giroud and Mathieu Debuchy are also down with injuries that may keep them out till January, but Wenger is hopeful that these two gets a medical clearance for fitness on time. Wenger claimed he gave the players enough time to rest after the world but their injury make things worse for him “There are a lot of post-World Cup injuries and not many soft tissue injuries,” Wenger told reporters. “I gave those who played at the World Cup until Monday, August 11, 2014. Germany played the final on Sunday, July 13, 2014.That was a month, and should be enough after a big competition. “For example, Giroud – I don’t know what we can do about Giroud’s injury. Debuchy was on his own when he did the ankle. “Then you have Ozil. You know how Ozil did the injury? Passing the ball with the outside of his left foot. He must have done that a million times. He just wanted to give the ball like that and heard a little crack. Speaking on how Arsenal intends to manage the injury crisis, Wenger said, “I think we have made progress. What’s different is we have a bit more prevention than before for the players to prepare. For us this season, we had big injuries and coincidental injuries.” “Koscielny has an Achilles problem, which has got worse. He finds it difficult to play at the moment. You can only trust what the players says, he does not feel ready to play and will not play on Saturday,” he stated. Wenger stated further that Koscielny will be monitored until he can take enough pain again, assuring that he will not need surgery. “We have scanned him; there is no deterioration of his achilles at all. It is just the inflammation,” he added.

GOOGLE announces NEXUS PHABLET running android 5.0 LOLLIPOP

Google has taken the wraps off the Nexus 6, a six-inch smartphone (phablet) that is essentially an enlarged Moto X. It runs Android 5.0, which is now officially called Lollipop. It will be available to pre-order from October 29, and will appear in stores/on your doorstep in the first week of November. Pricing starts at $650 off-contract — or about twice what the Nexus 5 cost. Google says the Nexus 6 — which is made by Motorola — has a Quad HD (2560×1440) display, dual front-facing speakers, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and Turbo Charger tech (get six hours of use from a 15-minute charge). OMG!!! Internally, there’s a Snapdragon 805 SoC clocked at 2.7GHz, 32 or 64GB of storage, and a large 3,220 mAh battery. Dimensions-wise, the Nexus 6 is large: 160 mm long, 83 mm long, and 10 mm thick. It weighs 184 grams (6.49 ounces). It is significantly larger than both the LG G3 or Galaxy Note 4. Curiously, despite no mention of it in the official Google blog post, the Nexus 6 also comes with Qi wireless charging built-in. 802.11ac 2×2 WiFi is provided by a Broadcom chip. There’s 3GB of RAM. The device supports a lot of cellular bands (LTE, GSM, etc.) but we’ll have more on that later in a separate story. Sadly, it seems there’s no smaller version of the Nexus 6 — it seems you’ll have to accept a phablet form factor, or simply go home empty handed. LOL...AWESOME

SPORTS::Siasia appointed U-23 eagles coach

siasia Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has appointed former Super Eagles Coach Samson Siasia as the new coach of the Under-23 team. The NFF took the decision at its Executive Committee meeting which held yesterday and lasted till the wee hours of Thursday at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. The last time Siasia held that position he won silver at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, losing 1-0 to Argentina in the soccer final, a goal scored by Angel Di Maria for the Argentines.

SPORTS::akpborie demand top quality coach for super eagles

akpoborie

Former Nigeria star Jonathan Akpoborie has told the Nigeria Football Federation to hire a big-name foreign coach, who boasts a good track record. Shuaibu Amodu has replaced Stephen Keshi as Eagles coach, but the NFF have announced they will soon appoint a foreign coach for the country’s team. “NFF must bring a foreign coach with class, a top quality coach, a big name and established coach who has knowledge of African Football and who is ready to develop the game in the country,” said Akpoborie, who is now a top TV pundit. “And not bring a mediocre coach who can’t even clean my shoe when we were playing, has no track record in the name of foreign coach. “We need a coach who the NFF and even the government people cannot push around.” He said he expects such a coach to bring in a better culture to the team and get young and talented players into the team. He said Eagles soared high under Clemens Westerhof and Jo Bonfrere because they brought Dutch football philosophy to the team and they stuck to it. “The coach must be one who has a culture. Switzerland, Germany, Holland and Spain have football culture and that’s why they play well,” he argued. “I also don’t agree with people who say Nigeria don’t have quality players. We have them in abundance home and abroad, they only need to be harnessed.”

BOKO HARAM WILL NOT THREATEN NIGERIA VOTE COME FEB 2015

Nigeria can hold elections in February even if Boko Haram violence makes voting impossible in parts of the northeast, the country’s elections chief told AFP, arguing that the disenfranchisement of thousands of people would not undermine the entire vote. Attahiru Jega, who heads the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said he was preparing to organise polling in the three states under emergency rule because of Islamist attacks. Based on current security assessments, the 57-year-old former academic said it was “inconceivable” that unrest could prevent voting throughout Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states. But even if the security services ruled out polling stations in areas where the crisis is most intense — including much of Borno and parts of Yobe — the overall credibility of the vote would remain intact, he added. “I want us… to get one thing clear: not doing an election in one state, it is unlikely to affect the outcome of the election nationally,” he said in an interview in Abuja. Boko Haram is believed to be in control of more than two dozen towns and villages in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa although the situation could change significantly before polling day on February 14, 2015. The United Nations has said that more than 600,000 people have been displaced by the conflict and will face huge challenges to return to their home districts to vote. President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to declare his re-election bid in the coming weeks and analysts say the conflict-wracked northeast will vote overwhelmingly against him. Human rights lawyer Festus Keyamo agreed with Jega that the de facto disenfranchisement of tens of thousands of likely opposition voters would not necessarily nullify the presidential result, especially if the margins are wide. But, he said, Senate and lower house results in the affected areas would be invalid. Some analysts have voiced concern that securing the northeast on election day will require a massive military deployment, leaving other flashpoint areas vulnerable, especially the religiously divided central states which have seen political violence before. – A cleaner election – Jega is one of a handful of public officials in corruption-ridden Nigeria who is broadly viewed as impartial and perhaps even incorruptible. He earned a doctorate in political science from Northwestern University outside Chicago and held an array of academic posts in the West and Nigeria before Jonathan appointed him to head INEC in 2010. While the 2011 general election was marred by irregularities and hundreds were killed in post-poll violence, Jega was applauded for organising a reasonably credible process in a nation of 170 million people with just a year to prepare. But he said the widespread fraud last time round was unacceptable and must be eliminated in 2015. Voter registration was a mess, he said, with millions of dead people still on the electoral roll and inadequate voter verification systems. Voter cards were bought and sold, ballot papers stolen from one district and taken to another, he continued. Biometric registration, colour-coded ballots and other systems will ensure “that 2015 general elections will be much, much better than the 2011 elections”, he said. There however remains a huge amount of rot in the system and too many politicians still “want to win by hook or by crook”, he added. INEC has evidence of election fraud against more than one million people but lacks the resources to prosecute them. Jega said he expected some candidates to attempt foul play again in 2015 but pledged that his staff was ready to crack down. “What we did was learn where the gaps were and then tried to ensure that these gaps are blocked so no one can exploit them again,” he said.

LAGOS—A combined team of regular and plain cloth armed policemen have stormed Oko-olomi village in Elemoro area of Ibeju-lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State, shooting sporadically into the air. SPORTS::Morocco Withdraws From Hosting Next Year's CAN Due To Ebola

The football federation of Morocco on Thursday withdrew from hosting the 2015 African Cup of Nations tournament with the qualification series nearing an end Morocco last week wrote the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to postpone the tournament due to the fear of Ebola spreading across its territories but CAF rejected the proposal It also stated two other scenarios before it completely pulled out of the tournament: according to reports, Morocco requested that the Nations Cup be moved to 2016 or the 2015 rights be handed to another country while the 2017 edition is reserved for it CAF rejected all the requests and the country backed out completely on Thursday A source from the Ministry of Sports said: "Since CAF rejected all our requests and suggestions then we are forced to withdraw from hosting Afcon 2015 with immediate effect to preserve the safety of our citizens and for that we are prepared to take any consequences that comes with our actions." If CAF confirms the withdrawal, Morocco will then be sanctioned with all of its clubs and national teams banned from continental engagements until the regulatory body decides otherwise. At this current situation, South Africa stands best to host the tournament amongst Egypt and Sudan who have indicated interest to take it up from Morocco. SAFA president, Danny Jordan met with CAF’s committee to discuss about the country hosting the tournament for a second time in a space of three years. With South Africa hosting the tournament next year, Egypt would then have to take up the 2017 edition which had been awarded to the Southern African nation.
