LOKOJA—The Nigerian Navy has impounded a boat carrying about 65,000 litres of petroleum products suspected to be either diesel or crude oil from bunkerers in the waters of River Niger.
The Commander of NNS Luguard, Lokoja, Commodore Shuwa Mohammed, who stated this while addressing journalists in Lokoja yesterday, said the petroleum products were stored in nine tanks of 500 litres each.
He said the 40-metre wooden boat was discovered at a marshy area of River Niger, around Lokoja on October 13 by the command, while on patrol from Baro, Niger State, to Lokoja and Idah in Kogi State.
