DISBAND EAGLES::ESIN TELLS NFF

FORMER Super Eagles player, Etim Esin, has called on those championing the course for the sack of Super Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi over the embarrassed performance put up by the senior national team in the 2015 Nations Cup qualifier to also look inward as some players have no business being in that team. Esin, who expressed sadness over the Eagles performance in last Saturday Nations Cup qualifier against Sudan, stated that the nonchalant attitude of these players when given the opportunity to wear the nation’s colours has prompted him to ask why Keshi keeps inviting them leaving out young players like Kelechi Iheanacho and other gifted players who are hungry for success. The former Eagles midfielder also stated that other Africa countries like Cameroun, South Africa and Ghana have started toeing the line of featuring young players to take over from the ageing stars in their teams. He noted that a player like John Mikel Obi who has won the Champions League with Chelsea, the Africa Nations Cup and also played at the World Cup, does have anything more to offer Nigeria. Esin maintained that the Super Eagles would keep facing humiliation in Africa football if the current NFF board does not put modalities in place to revamp the senior national team, stressing that the current group is in total shambles. Esin added: After the Eagles lost in Sudan they complained of the pitch, South Africa played on that same turf and won because they paraded hungry players. I see no reason why Keshi should not invite Iheanacho to the Eagles. I played for the Eagles at a tender age, Keshi as a person doesn’t like compromising and that is why he can’t give in to some issues. As a coach, you need not allow emotions to becloud your sense of choosing players. Assuming I was a coach, I will use the stubborn player in my team to get the result I want. There is no stiff competition in the Eagles team for now.’’
