PHOTOS::George Clooney’s New Wife Amal Stealing Taylor Swift’s Look?

They both have the same figure and both wear the same dresses. Singer Taylor Swift seems to be a role model when it comes to fashion. New bride, Amal Clooney was spotted wearing dresses rocked by Swift.
George Clooney’s new wife wore this checkered and black dress by Oscar de la Renta on October 16th 2014 and rocked the look with a red bag just like Swift earlier wore in May 2014.
The singer rocked hers months ago. Then again, Mrs Clooney was spotted with another Oscar de la Renta dress back in September.
The flowery dress was worn by Taylor way back June 2014.
Is Clooney stealing Taylor’s look or it’s mere coincidence?

Meet 12-Year-Old Boy Who Invents Robot That Could End Malaria

12-year old David Cohen from Dallas has invented a robot which could help curb malaria to a large extent as his machine drowns mosquitoes and traps them under water, Huffington Post reports. Cohen, from Dallas submitted his work to the “Discovery Education 3M Scientist Challenge” and has been selected as one of the competitions’s top ten finalists as he aims to win the $25,000 cash prize, with the title of “America’s Top Young Scientist,” which comes along with an all expenses paid vacation at the finals. Cohen said: “My sister actually got a pretty bad staph infection from itching a mosquito bite. She was in a lot of pain and could barely walk. It took her a couple weeks to heal with heavy antibiotics.” Cohen, a high school freshman paired up with mentor, Delony Langer-Anderson a 3M advanced new product development specialist for the project. young scientist challenge Cohen and his mentor throughout the competition, Delony Langer-Anderson. [Photo credit: 3M Young Scientist Challenge] Langer-Anderson heaped praises on the pre-teen scientist said: “David looked at the problem of mosquito-borne illnesses in a different way. He asked, ‘What if the mosquito was never born?’ As he’s worked through prototypes and ideas, he’s never lost sight of the idea that if he can stop the mosquito from emerging from the larvae stage, he can prevent them from spreading diseases.” She said although it is yet to be seen whether Cohen’s invention will reduce the number of malaria or West Nile virus cases, the involvement of such youngsters in solving world problems is a welcome development “I think that people like David have the potential to impact the futures of people living in our country and in developing regions of the world,” she added.

SPORTS::Wenger Blames Brazil 2014 World Cup For His Players’ Injury

Arsene Wenger has attributed the woes that seem threaten the chances of Arsenal maintaining the top four position this season, to the just-concluded World Cup on Brazil. Gunners’ head coach had said on Friday, October 17, 2014 that the reason why about 10 of his players suffered injuries since August is as a result of the world Cup games, citing one of the World Cup winner, Mesut Ozil who will be out of EPL for up to three months with a collateral ligament tear in his left knee. French striker, Olivier Giroud and Mathieu Debuchy are also down with injuries that may keep them out till January, but Wenger is hopeful that these two gets a medical clearance for fitness on time. Wenger claimed he gave the players enough time to rest after the world but their injury make things worse for him “There are a lot of post-World Cup injuries and not many soft tissue injuries,” Wenger told reporters. “I gave those who played at the World Cup until Monday, August 11, 2014. Germany played the final on Sunday, July 13, 2014.That was a month, and should be enough after a big competition. “For example, Giroud – I don’t know what we can do about Giroud’s injury. Debuchy was on his own when he did the ankle. “Then you have Ozil. You know how Ozil did the injury? Passing the ball with the outside of his left foot. He must have done that a million times. He just wanted to give the ball like that and heard a little crack. Speaking on how Arsenal intends to manage the injury crisis, Wenger said, “I think we have made progress. What’s different is we have a bit more prevention than before for the players to prepare. For us this season, we had big injuries and coincidental injuries.” “Koscielny has an Achilles problem, which has got worse. He finds it difficult to play at the moment. You can only trust what the players says, he does not feel ready to play and will not play on Saturday,” he stated. Wenger stated further that Koscielny will be monitored until he can take enough pain again, assuring that he will not need surgery. “We have scanned him; there is no deterioration of his achilles at all. It is just the inflammation,” he added.

GOOGLE announces NEXUS PHABLET running android 5.0 LOLLIPOP

Google has taken the wraps off the Nexus 6, a six-inch smartphone (phablet) that is essentially an enlarged Moto X. It runs Android 5.0, which is now officially called Lollipop. It will be available to pre-order from October 29, and will appear in stores/on your doorstep in the first week of November. Pricing starts at $650 off-contract — or about twice what the Nexus 5 cost. Google says the Nexus 6 — which is made by Motorola — has a Quad HD (2560×1440) display, dual front-facing speakers, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and Turbo Charger tech (get six hours of use from a 15-minute charge). OMG!!! Internally, there’s a Snapdragon 805 SoC clocked at 2.7GHz, 32 or 64GB of storage, and a large 3,220 mAh battery. Dimensions-wise, the Nexus 6 is large: 160 mm long, 83 mm long, and 10 mm thick. It weighs 184 grams (6.49 ounces). It is significantly larger than both the LG G3 or Galaxy Note 4. Curiously, despite no mention of it in the official Google blog post, the Nexus 6 also comes with Qi wireless charging built-in. 802.11ac 2×2 WiFi is provided by a Broadcom chip. There’s 3GB of RAM. The device supports a lot of cellular bands (LTE, GSM, etc.) but we’ll have more on that later in a separate story. Sadly, it seems there’s no smaller version of the Nexus 6 — it seems you’ll have to accept a phablet form factor, or simply go home empty handed. LOL...AWESOME

SPORTS::Siasia appointed U-23 eagles coach

siasia Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has appointed former Super Eagles Coach Samson Siasia as the new coach of the Under-23 team. The NFF took the decision at its Executive Committee meeting which held yesterday and lasted till the wee hours of Thursday at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. The last time Siasia held that position he won silver at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, losing 1-0 to Argentina in the soccer final, a goal scored by Angel Di Maria for the Argentines.

SPORTS::akpborie demand top quality coach for super eagles

akpoborie

Former Nigeria star Jonathan Akpoborie has told the Nigeria Football Federation to hire a big-name foreign coach, who boasts a good track record. Shuaibu Amodu has replaced Stephen Keshi as Eagles coach, but the NFF have announced they will soon appoint a foreign coach for the country’s team. “NFF must bring a foreign coach with class, a top quality coach, a big name and established coach who has knowledge of African Football and who is ready to develop the game in the country,” said Akpoborie, who is now a top TV pundit. “And not bring a mediocre coach who can’t even clean my shoe when we were playing, has no track record in the name of foreign coach. “We need a coach who the NFF and even the government people cannot push around.” He said he expects such a coach to bring in a better culture to the team and get young and talented players into the team. He said Eagles soared high under Clemens Westerhof and Jo Bonfrere because they brought Dutch football philosophy to the team and they stuck to it. “The coach must be one who has a culture. Switzerland, Germany, Holland and Spain have football culture and that’s why they play well,” he argued. “I also don’t agree with people who say Nigeria don’t have quality players. We have them in abundance home and abroad, they only need to be harnessed.”

BOKO HARAM WILL NOT THREATEN NIGERIA VOTE COME FEB 2015

Nigeria can hold elections in February even if Boko Haram violence makes voting impossible in parts of the northeast, the country’s elections chief told AFP, arguing that the disenfranchisement of thousands of people would not undermine the entire vote. Attahiru Jega, who heads the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said he was preparing to organise polling in the three states under emergency rule because of Islamist attacks. Based on current security assessments, the 57-year-old former academic said it was “inconceivable” that unrest could prevent voting throughout Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states. But even if the security services ruled out polling stations in areas where the crisis is most intense — including much of Borno and parts of Yobe — the overall credibility of the vote would remain intact, he added. “I want us… to get one thing clear: not doing an election in one state, it is unlikely to affect the outcome of the election nationally,” he said in an interview in Abuja. Boko Haram is believed to be in control of more than two dozen towns and villages in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa although the situation could change significantly before polling day on February 14, 2015. The United Nations has said that more than 600,000 people have been displaced by the conflict and will face huge challenges to return to their home districts to vote. President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to declare his re-election bid in the coming weeks and analysts say the conflict-wracked northeast will vote overwhelmingly against him. Human rights lawyer Festus Keyamo agreed with Jega that the de facto disenfranchisement of tens of thousands of likely opposition voters would not necessarily nullify the presidential result, especially if the margins are wide. But, he said, Senate and lower house results in the affected areas would be invalid. Some analysts have voiced concern that securing the northeast on election day will require a massive military deployment, leaving other flashpoint areas vulnerable, especially the religiously divided central states which have seen political violence before. – A cleaner election – Jega is one of a handful of public officials in corruption-ridden Nigeria who is broadly viewed as impartial and perhaps even incorruptible. He earned a doctorate in political science from Northwestern University outside Chicago and held an array of academic posts in the West and Nigeria before Jonathan appointed him to head INEC in 2010. While the 2011 general election was marred by irregularities and hundreds were killed in post-poll violence, Jega was applauded for organising a reasonably credible process in a nation of 170 million people with just a year to prepare. But he said the widespread fraud last time round was unacceptable and must be eliminated in 2015. Voter registration was a mess, he said, with millions of dead people still on the electoral roll and inadequate voter verification systems. Voter cards were bought and sold, ballot papers stolen from one district and taken to another, he continued. Biometric registration, colour-coded ballots and other systems will ensure “that 2015 general elections will be much, much better than the 2011 elections”, he said. There however remains a huge amount of rot in the system and too many politicians still “want to win by hook or by crook”, he added. INEC has evidence of election fraud against more than one million people but lacks the resources to prosecute them. Jega said he expected some candidates to attempt foul play again in 2015 but pledged that his staff was ready to crack down. “What we did was learn where the gaps were and then tried to ensure that these gaps are blocked so no one can exploit them again,” he said.

SPORTS::Morocco Withdraws From Hosting Next Year's CAN Due To Ebola

The football federation of Morocco on Thursday withdrew from hosting the 2015 African Cup of Nations tournament with the qualification series nearing an end Morocco last week wrote the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to postpone the tournament due to the fear of Ebola spreading across its territories but CAF rejected the proposal It also stated two other scenarios before it completely pulled out of the tournament: according to reports, Morocco requested that the Nations Cup be moved to 2016 or the 2015 rights be handed to another country while the 2017 edition is reserved for it CAF rejected all the requests and the country backed out completely on Thursday A source from the Ministry of Sports said: "Since CAF rejected all our requests and suggestions then we are forced to withdraw from hosting Afcon 2015 with immediate effect to preserve the safety of our citizens and for that we are prepared to take any consequences that comes with our actions." If CAF confirms the withdrawal, Morocco will then be sanctioned with all of its clubs and national teams banned from continental engagements until the regulatory body decides otherwise. At this current situation, South Africa stands best to host the tournament amongst Egypt and Sudan who have indicated interest to take it up from Morocco. SAFA president, Danny Jordan met with CAF’s committee to discuss about the country hosting the tournament for a second time in a space of three years. With South Africa hosting the tournament next year, Egypt would then have to take up the 2017 edition which had been awarded to the Southern African nation.
